Join local sustainable food producers and green minded organisations for an Icelandic midwinter with Icelandic menu, traditional storytelling, and a viking challenge fit for the bravest. Think fairy lights lanterns and midwinter magic. Starting with drinks and talks from producers and organisations we will enjoy an Icelandic feast celebrating sustainability and slow food then we wile away midwinters night the longest and coldest of the year, together. Funds from the ticket price (after deducting the cost of ingredients only) will go to local food projects in Doncaster which have environmental and social impact.

MENU

Icelandic taster board: pickles, crab and oatcakes

Starter: Plokkfiskur: white fish and creamed potatoes or Plokkblómkal: Special cauliflower with creamed potatoes

Main: Kjöttsupa or graenmetisupa lamb or vegetable Icelandic style hearty soup

Desserts; Vinnarterta: layers of homemade cardamom shortbread with plum preserve and Skuffukaka Icelandic chocolate brownie cake

VIking challenge: Hakarl and Brennivin

Followed by Icelandic liquorice covered in milk chocolate and fine teas and artisan roasted coffee

Each course has vegan and gluten free options. Please leave a message when purchasing if you require these options. Please inform us of any food allergies so that we can be aware.

The bar will be open all evening and there is a great selection of bottled craft beers to take home too.

Wendy from GWS Seafoods will be coming to talk about their work with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and share some of her home made crab paté.

We will add producers and growers as they confirm. Please let us know if you a locally produced product to use in the menu and would like to come and talk about it
